Because of the competition they make good offers when you bring new real money players. 

Most of the casinos and poker rooms have affiliate programs. 

In casino games the customer plays against the house. All games are mathematically designed in this way,

so that the casino always has a little advantage. Therefore the casino is the long-term winner.

More traffic results in more profit for the casino.

By playing poker the customers take each others money - the winners from the losers.

The house earns a profit by taking a small rake (normally 5% - capped at $3 max) from every pot. 

When the pot is for example $10, the house takes $.50 rake. $9.50 are for the winner(s) of the pot.

Again the more action the poker room can produce, the more profit they make.

Basically the gaming affiliate programs offer two different earning models:

• CPA  (= they pay for a new qualified real money player)
• REV share (= they pay you for a lifetime of the player a percentage of the profit they make with the player)
  

CPA

With this earning model you will get paid for every new qualified real money player for a casino or poker room.

The commission for a new player varies between $50 and sometimes $200.

Average CPA paid is about $100.

That's a lot of money and therefore the casinos check the new players carefully to avoid fraud.

Most affiliate programs offer CPA only after your site has prooved to sent legitimate players for some time.

To offer incentives for new players to signup with your links is not allowed.

Doing this you risk to get your account closed.
 

Advantages:

• you get paid, also when the player loses all his money in short time
• the amounts paid are high (average $100 for a new player)

Disadvantages:

• to be qualified the player needs to play for example a minimum number of raked hands.
  When he goes broke before you don't get paid.
• you are paid only once for a player, even when the player produces thousands of dollars profit a lifetime. 

REV share

That's  the standard earning model the casino and poker affiliate programs normally offer.

The principle is simple. You send them a player and the player is linked to your affiliate account.

Every time the player is playing he is normally producing profits for the house.

And you get a share of these profits.

So when you have very active players, you can make a lot of money.

The percentages they pay to affiliates are between 30% and 50%, depending on the size of the room/casino.

The net profit is calculated normally like this:

Casinos =   losses of the players minus other costs (bonuses, transaction costs)

Poker = rake produced by the players minus other costs ( bonuses, rake back, transaction costs)

Advantages:

• you get paid for the player as long as he is active there.
  Even when he returns after a break, you will get paid again
• when you have many highrollers, you can make very much money

Disadvantages:

• many players just clear bonuses and then leave the site to play on the next site and bonus (so called bonuswhores)
• some player lose at the start all of their money and don't return then

Conclusion:

Depending on the quality of the players you can send, you should choose your earnings model (when it is possible to choose).

As most of the highrollers should already have online accounts, we prefer CPA earning models.

The idea then is to maximize your traffic. 

Target should be to send 50 new qualified players per month which will result in about $5.000 monthly income from your casino / poker traffic.

To get new players, you have to offer attractive content for them.

News, strategy articles, blogs are all valid content to attract players.
